source that provides a succinct yet comprehensive
examination of current business information on the
nation's largest state economy and the world's 8th largest
economy - California.
The California Business Minute provides information about
the people, businesses and organizations that are creating
and growing business along with retaining and creating jobs
in the state.
The California Business Minute provides information on a variety of signature sectors from, aerospace, agriculture, construction, finance, health care, real estate, retail, technology, transportation, and utilities. Information is also provided on topics such as general business trends, labor market, infrastructure, community, economic and redevelopment activities and covers the state's diverse regions as well.
BACKGROUND
The California Business Minute is the 'branchild of Tim Johnson. Tim has worked in economic
development for over 25 years.
After his organization received the National Award of Excellence from the US Department of
Commerce in 2006, he left to volunteer with the US Department of Commerce and the
International Economic Development Council to help deploy public grants and loans
in Louisiana for business and industry that were impacted from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
It was during this time that Tim put together an outline to write and chronicle the businesses
and economy of California. Unfortunately, during this time, the economy of the nation and
the state would collapse into a recession, known as the 'Great Recession', a recession that
would significantly impact California. However, The California Business Minute has endured
providing a real time diary of the recession.
The California Business Minute website was launched the second week of July 2007.
