CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Most Miserable Cities 02-22-10
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The annual Forbes.com ‘Most Miserable Cities’ rankings have been released.
The measure of misery takes into account, unemployment, taxes (sales and income), commute times, violent crimes, public corruption, weather and superfund pollution sites along with how well the community’s sports teams played over the last two years. And the areas reviewed had to have MSA’s larger than 245,000 in size to be eligible for the list.
Ohio had the highest number of cities with four. Unfortunately, California had three cities on this year’s list. Stockton dropped from last year’s top ranking slipping to #2. Modesto ranked #11 and Sacramento was #17. New York State had two cities on the list as did Illinois and Michigan.
