California Business Minute™

Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

Los Angeles will for the fifth time be host to the annual NBA All-Star game,
February 20th.

The event is expected to bring significant economic impacts to the city during
the weekend long events culminating with the game.  According to a study
commissioned by the LA Sports and Entertainment Commission by the Los Angeles-
based economic consulting firm, Micronomics, the event is likely to produce $85
million in increased economic activity for Los Angeles.  This includes a minimum
of $60 million in expenditures associated with increased tourism in connection
with events held during All-Star week and an additional $25 million in expenditures
by local residents and businesses.
