CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Beach Bummers 06-04-10
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Heal the Bays 19th Annual Beach Report Card which provides water quality information to the millions of people who swim, surf, or dive in California coastal waters has been released. The Report Card is essential reading for ocean users. The Report Card grades 324 locations year-round on an A-to-F scale based on the risk of adverse health effects to beachgoers.
Unfortunately Avalon Harbor Beach on Catalina continues to hold the top position as the worst place to swim in the state. Additionally, Cabrillo, Colorado and S anta Monica also remain on this years list. However, only 5 out of this years Top Ten were from LA County as versus 6 from 2009.
The Top 10 Beach Bummers 1. Avalon Harbor Beach on Catalina Island (Los Angeles County) 2. Cowell Beach at the wharf (Santa Cruz County) 3. Cabrillo Beach Harborside (Los Angeles County) 4.
