Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute
A great place to raise a family, according to Parenting magazine, ranked 101
cities across the nation and published the top 10 best American hometowns for
raising kids.
The magazine surveyed moms nationwide for their top criteria in choosing a
city to raise their kids. Their choices were (in order of priority):
1. Quality of schools
2. Affordability and availability of quality housing
3. Low crime rates
4. Job availability and growth
5. Number of registered sex offenders
6. Recreational opportunities
7. Quality/quantity of pediatricians/family physicians
8. Commute time and distance
Arlington Virginia was named the Best City for Families. Unfortunately no
California Cities were in the Top Ten. San Diego was ranked 25th;
San Francisco 54th; San Jose 63rd; Anaheim 67th; Los Angeles 78th;
Riverside 79th; Bakersfield 85th; Fresno 98th;and Sacramento 99th .
