CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Stressful Cities 08-24-10
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Forbes as released its annual ranking of the ’Most Stressful’ cities in the nation. The annual ranking examines the 40 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the nation. This year the methodology changed to reflect unemployment, commute times, work hours, healthcare, Poor Physical Health and Lack of Exercise. This changed from population density, sunny days, air quality and cost of living and the drop in median house prices as was the methodology used in 2008 and 09.
Apparently the change in the methodology had little if any impact on Los Angeles, which has remained in the Top Ten for this year’s ranking along with New York and Chicago. However, Las Vegas which has not been in the Top Ten is ranked number one. Riverside which has also not been in the Top Ten joins LA as the only other city from California to make the list, based upon high unemployment and, commute times.
The following identifies the Top Ten rankings for 2010
TOP TEN MOST STRESSFUL CITIES 2010 1. Las Vegas 2. Los Angeles 3. Houston 4. Tampa 5. Riverside 6. Miami 7. Dallas 8. New York 9. Chicago 10. Detroit
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
