CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Happy 4th of July! 07-04-11
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Today in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress, starting the 13 colonies on the road to freedom as a sovereign nation. As always, the most of American holidays, to day will be marked by parades, fireworks and barbeques across the state.
It is estimated by the US Census Bureau that Californians will join with the rest of the nation by consuming 150 million hot dogs, 7.3 billion pounds of beef, i.e., steaks, burgers and beef hot dogs excluding gosh knows how many tons of chicken today. By the way, the lettuce and tomatoes for your salad or used on your burger, it is a high probability it came from California. And the watermelon you might eat, it too is probably from California.
And for those folks living in California communities with patriotic names, such as Freedom or along the American River or American Canyon, here’s wishing you and the rest of California a Happy 4th.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
