Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
California ranks #1 in Beer, according to a new ranking by www.TheStreet.com.
The ranking methodology includes data from the Brewers Association, Beer Institute
and four key criterions: Production, consumption, breweries and breweries per
capita.
California has 245 breweries that produce 2.2 million barrels a year. Californians
drank 18.4 gallons per capita in 2010 ranking 44th out of 50th. Recall San Francisco
was identified as one of the drunkest cities in the nation, but it was based upon wine.

even is the home to Pabst Blue Ribbon, along with craft beers such as Sierra Nevada,
Anchor Steam and Lagunitas, but apparently when it comes to beer, Californians like
quality over quantity.
