Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
In 2010 immigrants accounted for nearly 30 percent of new business owners versus 13 percent in 1996 according to the Kauffman Foundation.
Forbes magazine has identified and ranked the “Best Cities for Minority Entrepreneurs,” That corresponds to the 52 largest Metropolitan Statistical Areas. The ranking are based on a percentage of minority owned business along with the minority population growth and income and overall housing affordability of each MSA.
BEST CITIES FOR MINORITY ENTREPRENEURS 1. Atlanta 2. Baltimore 3. Nashville 4. Houston 5. Miami 6. Oklahoma City 7. Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario 8. Washington DC 9. Orlando 10. Phoenix
California cities ranked outside of the Top Ten include Los Angeles at #18, Sacramento at #29, San Francisco at #35, San Jose at #46 and San Diego at #46.
