Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Los Angeles County is showcasing the growth of its technology sector by celebrating its 5th annual Technology Week, January 28-31. The program showcases the innovations of high-tech companies, connect technology leaders and entrepreneurs with strategic resources, awards the first Technology Leadership Prizes, offers outstanding networking and business development opportunities, and conducts expert programs for all participants in technology ventures, from scrappy entrepreneurs to savvy CEOs. Los Angeles County Technology Week is designed to inform the public about the state of the technology landscape in Los Angeles County.
"While Santa Clara County may be a bit larger in technology sector employment (252,400), Los Angeles County is within striking distance (246,500), and our technology sector is far more diverse," explained Jack Kyser, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist, Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation. "Moreover, with eight engineering schools in Los Angeles County, only Boston has a comparable research foundation."
