CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE IT Salaries in CA 02-07-08
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
With an average salary of $98,876, IT professionals in the Silicon Valley are the highest paid in the country, according to a survey released by Dice.com, a career site for technology and engineering professionals.
The 2007 annual salary survey examined more than 19,000 technology professionals and found that average IT salaries in the United States increased 1.7 percent to $74,570 in 2007, with experienced technology managers seeing the largest increases. The Silicon Valley's $98,876 average in 2007 built on its $90,310 average in 2006 and its $85,430 average in 2005.
Next in order for top-paying cities were Boston, Baltimore/Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Denver, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Chicago, San Diego, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Hartford, Houston, Phoenix, and Detroit.
The survey illustrated that tech salaries have slowly but steadily increased over the last five years after declining in the early part of the decade. E-commerce workers continued to see the largest salary increases, even after a 14 percent gain in 2006, it pocketed an additional 4.6 percent in 2007.

The survey illustrated that tech salaries have slowly but steadily increased over the last five years after declining in the early part of the decade. E-commerce workers continued to see the largest salary increases, even after 2006's 14 percent gain, pocketing an additional 4.6 percent in 2007.
