California Business Minute™

Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

The El Dorado County Economic Development Office has released a 14 point recommendation
to improve regulatory efficiency and outreach to enterprises that are interested in growing in the
county. Recommendations include:

• The county needs to establish a timeline and framework for project approval
• Create a "permit liaison" position within the Development Services Department to 
  provide the applicant what the process entails and help assist the project through
  various reviews.
• Formulate an entitlement facilitation program to aid businesses or developers that 
  don't own the land where they propose to locate
• Prepare a development handbook
• Establish a rapid-response team to work with businesses that may leave the county, 
  reduce operations or that need assistance following a disaster to prevent loss of jobs 
  and revenue to the county.

Sam Driggers, economic development coordinator for the county hope’s to have the final recommendation
and corresponding staff report heard by the Board of Supervisors on March 25.
