Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

The city of Poway has recently had a survey completed to determine their community’s
interest in identifying the type of stores and dining establishments they would prefer as
a part of the city’s internal growth.

The results illustrated respondents want the California based In-N-Out Burger franchise
as their number one choice for an eatery. Respondents priorities were:

Restaurants wanted: In-N-Out Burger, Arby's, Souplantation, Wendy's, HomeTown Buffet,
Applebee's, Red Lobster, Macaroni Grill, Cheesecake Factory, Steak House, California
Pizza Kitchen

Stores wanted: Trader Joe's, Wal–Mart supercenter, Lowe's, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy,
Sports Authority, Old Navy, Whole Foods, Ross, Jimbo's, Macy's

Stores/services city lacks: Restaurants, apparel, entertainment, convenience, home decor.

Obviously Poway’s branding campaign ‘Poway, Your First Choice is appropriate given that
70 percent of Poway residents regularly patronize local shops.
