CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Employee Confidence 03-31-08
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The California Employee Confidence Index dropped 2.3 points to 48.0 in January, the lowest level recorded in the history of the survey, according to the latest Spherion Employment Report.
The monthly survey of California workers, conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Spherion Corp, also indicates that while more workers feel uneasy about the strength of the economy and job availability, more remain confident in their personal employment situation.
Seventy-one percent of workers believe the economy is getting weaker, an increase of eight percentage points from December. However, more than half (55 percent) of workers are confident in their ability to find a new job, up one percentage point from the previous month.
More than three-fourths (77 percent) of California workers believe it's unlikely they will lose their job in the next 12 months, an increase of one percentage point from 76 in December.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
