CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE CA Confidence 01-29-09
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The California Employee Confidence Index fell 3.1 points to 37.7 in December, according to the latest Spherion Employment Report.
The monthly survey of California workers, conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Spherion Corp. reveals that more workers believe there are fewer jobs available and have less confidence in their ability to find one.
Results from the report include: A third (33 percent) of workers are confident in their ability to find new jobs, a decrease of 18 percentage points from November. Eighty-six percent of workers believe there are fewer jobs available, up seven percentage points from the previous month. More workers are confident in the future of their current employers. Specifically, seven out of 10 workers (70 percent) are confident, an increase of five percentage points from November. Seventy percent of workers believe that they are unlikely to lose their jobs, representing a decrease of eight percentage points from the previous month.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
