CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Employment Addendum 03-06-09
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The state of California Employment Development Department released its updated information on unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) for California counties.
Of key significance, 40 counties out of the 58 had double digit unemployment rates up from 31 counties in December. This number was up from 23 in November, 15 in October and ten in September. And another 8 were at 9 percent or greater leaving only Marin, Mono, Orange and San Francisco counties with unemployment rates equal to or lower than the increasing U.S. average in January. Marin had the lowest unemployment rates at 6.6 percent followed by Mono County at 6.7percent. Colusa County had the highest unemployment rate a 26.7 percent and Imperial County was right behind at 24.2.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
