CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Antioch - Small Town Charm, Big City Opportunity 06-02-08
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Californias economy may have slowed, but Antiochs economic development activity is still moving. Economic Development Director Guy Bjerke illustrates four major business projects.
The first is the recently opened JC Penney store, the first store in the Orchards at Slatten Ranch shopping center.
Markstein Beverage is moving and expanding its Anheuser Busch distributorship into a business park on East 18th. They are pioneering into a business park so that the water, sewer and roads that are being put in for this development will allow other businesses to move into the business park too.
Wells Fargo is bringing their online banking call center to Bluerock (Business Center), which will bring 100 jobs and, obviously, a corporate identity to the Lone Tree corridor that will bring and focus attention to Antioch.
Marshalls is helping to renovate and update and upgrade the Somersville Towne Center.
Two other projects that will also be crucial to Antioch in the near future include the proposed ferry terminal planned for downtown. The other is construction of a BART line in the median of Highway 4 from the Bay Point BART Station to Hillcrest Avenue scheduled to be completed in 2015, around the same time Highway 4 is widened to eight lanes to Hillcrest.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
