Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Chilean President Michelle Bachelet is in California to sign an agreement with Governor Schwarzenegger on Thursday. The agreement is focused on building Economic ties between California and Chile and will promote active collaboration n alternative energy, higher education and innovation.
Bachelet was elected Chiles first woman president in 2006 after campaigning on a platform that included environmental protection and investment in renewable energy. Chile imports three quarters of its power.
Bachelet will be joined by her ministers of energy, economy and foreign affairs along with members of the Chilean Congress.
In addition to her appearance tomorrow at the Capitol, she will also make an address tomorrow at University of California, Berkeley at 5p.m. The speech entitled The Transformation of Chile is open to the public on a first- come, first-served basis.
