CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Chrysler Closures 05-18-09
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Chrysler released its list of its 789 dealerships it plans to conclude relationships with after this year. Chrysler went into bankruptcy two weeks ago. The company will still honor their warranties and service agreements. The company is privately held and will be merged with Fiat giving the Italian car maker a new avenue for sales in the United States.
For California, it means the closure of 29 dealerships. Only Texas surpassed California for the total aggregate number of dealerships to be closed. It does not necessarily mean the loss of tax revenue for California but for local government, it may mean less tax receipts and of course lost jobs. Most dealers that are closing are located in small towns and evenly split between north and south parts of the state.
The list for California - from North to South across the state:
Harvey Harper, Eureka Courtesy Motors, Chico Oroville Motors, Oroville Weaver Auto, Grass Valley Liberty Motors, Grass Valley Wheeler Jeep, Yuba City Folsom Chrysler Jeep, Folsom Mother Lode Motors, Sonora Richardson Chrysler and Jeep, Oakdale Livermore Chrysler Jeep, Livermore Bay Bridge Chrysler Jeep, Oakland Burlingame Chrysler Jeep, Burlingame Peninsula Dodge, Redwood City Ron Smith Jeep, Merced Butts Jeep-Eagle, Seaside Liberty Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Hanford Ted Miles Jeep, Atascadero Perry Jeep, San Luis Obispo Jeep of Ventura, Ventura Murphy & Shelby Dodge, San Fernando Big Valley Chrysler Jeep, Van Nuys Star Chrysler Jeep, Glendale Car Pros Chrysler Jeep, Carson Union Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Garden Grove Urban Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Foothill Ranch Dodge City Chrysler Jeep, La Quinta North County Jeep, Escondido John Hine Dodge, San Diego Direct Auto Plaza, El Centro
