California Business Minute™

Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

Looking for venture capital, specifically as a start up firm, look no further than the
Golden State.  In a just published list from Enterpreneur.com, they rank the Top 100
Early Seed Capital Firms in the Nation.

Because of ties, there are actually 144 firms and no surprise, California comprises
over 40 percent of the firms listed.  California is followed by Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

Closer to home the majority of the firms are from the Bay area, more specifically, the
preponderance come from the neighboring communities of Menlo Park and Palo Alto.

While the credit crunch has impacted standard conventional lending, the placement of
venture capital into California companies continues at a pace just below last year’s high
since the burst of the ‘dot.com’ bubble earlier in the decade.
