Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

The website CIO Insight recently completed a survey of IT executives about
their company’s motivation for launching green initiatives. The results appear
to mark a drastic change in the conscience of ‘Corporate America’ why
companies go green.  The answers from the survey may surprise you:

Altruism trumps costs as the first reason. Respondents felt tit is the right
thing to do.  Cost was as many might believe would be the number one
reason was the second reason.   Corporate image is third.  Nothing looks
better than a conscientious corporation.  Regulation is fourth. Respondents
claim that new state regulations are a reason for initiating the change.  The
fifth reason is do to public or shareholder pressure for the transition.
