California Business Minute™

Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

The results of the third quarter Orange County Index were revealed
this past week at the Annual Executive Conference. Key questions
comprising a survey were asked to over 900 local business leaders.

A surprising but positive outlook from the survey revealed 78% of
the respondents expect the second half of 2009 to be either the
same or better than the first half of the year. Also surprising
was the 22% of local businesses who were somehow bucking the trend
and had found ways to actually grow their business in the first half
and the 61% who felt they would continue to grow in the next six months.
The majority (71%) were confident that they were taking the right steps
to deal with this recession.

Not at all surprising was the large majority (75%) who agreed that the
best source of information and solutions in these turbulent times were
from other local business owners and executives themselves. It was
reported that only 2% of the respondents thought "politicians had the
best understanding of our economy".
