CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Most Stressful 09-08-09
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Forbes last week released its annual list of the most stressful cities in the nation. And given California’s current economic position, it appears that Californian cities own this year’s list comprising nearly 20 percent of this year’s list.
The selection criteria was based upon the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the nation involving unemployment rate, expensive gas, high population density and relatively poor air quality as its criteria for what made one city more stressful than another.
Chicago remained on top of the list again. New York and Los Angeles changed positions. Cleveland rose in the rankings to fourth from last year’s seventh position, and Providence rose from ninth to fifth in the rankings. Meanwhile Boston, Washington DC and San Jose were added and San Diego and Philadelphia fell out of the top ten.
Top Ten Most Stressful Cities 1. Chicago 2. Los Angeles 3. New York 4. Cleveland 5. Providence 6. San Francisco 7. Detroit 8. Boston 9. Washington DC 10. San Jose
Other California cities included #12 Riverside-San Bernardino, #15 Sacramento and #16 San Diego
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
