CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Schwarzenegger Back from UN 10-02-07
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
While many in the state last week listened to Governor Schwarzeneggers address before the General Assembly of the United Nations on climate change issues, it was not his speech but his written statement that caught most Californians attention.
Schwarzenegger identified that he would sign legislation requiring Californias multi-billion dollar state pension funds to divest their holdings in stocks from military and defense related companies doing business with Iran.
Assembly Bill, AB 221 which passed the Legislature with no opposition is similar to the action previously taken by the State last year regarding Sudan.
While the Governor and Legislature support green and clean industries, they apparently do not buy into the Iranian position that their nuclear actions are for green and clean energy purposes given the lack of forward looking energy and environmental policies.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
