The California Business Minute provides information on a variety of sectors from aerospace, agriculture, construction, finance, health care, real estate, retail technology, transportation and utilities. Information is also provided on topics ranging from general business trends, labor markets, infrastructure, community and economic development in concert with redevelopment actions and covers California's diverse regions.

CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE OPUS to Build in Stockton 10-18-07
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Developer OPUS West Corporation has announced plans to build 8.2 million square feet of building space on what will be called the OPUS Logistics Center in Stockton.
The project will be built on 474 acres at an estimated $500 million and employ an estimated 3200. The project is off of Highway 99 and a rail hub of both the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern railroads.
With the Ports of Oakland and San Francisco at capacity, this site close to Highway 99, railroad hubs and near Interstate 5 will provide valuable space in support of logistics to and through the Golden Gate.
The first phase of construction will involve four buildings totaling 2.9 million square feet: two buildings of 1.2 million each, one of 400,000 square feet and another of 100,000. It is estimated that 13 buildings in total will be on site, the first to be available for business at the end of 2008.
