California Business Minute™

Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

A broad-based coalition concerned about the current economic downturn and
continued lack of workforce housing in Los Angeles County unveiled the Workforce
Housing Scorecard.

The Scorecard will provide cities in Los Angeles County with a comprehensive
evaluation of their current and future housing supply by correlating it to economic
development and job growth data.

Los Angeles County has never before had a comprehensive report outlining its
progress in supplying affordable housing on a city-by-city basis from an economic
development perspective.

The first phase of the Housing Scorecard is expected to be completed in June 2008.
Data produced by the Housing Scorecard will be presented to all 88 mayors in the
County. The findings will provide insight for policymakers and help fuel future decisions
to fully fund affordable housing trust funds for their cities and to develop policies to make
L.A. County and its cities more competitive and business-friendly.
