CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Anaheim 12-03-07
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The vision for a unique transportation and activity center, combining public and private mixed-use development, has begun in the heart of Orange County. The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, ARTIC is being planned in cooperation with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) as a world-class joint development complex for Southern California. It will be centered on a transportation hub linking freeways, major streets, bus routes, one of the nations busiest rail corridors and the states two busiest theme parks.
ARTIC is located in Anaheims Platinum Triangle and spans more than 16 acres on land purchased by OCTA for $32 million in 2006. OCTA is investing more than $400 million to deliver 30-minute Metrolink commuter-rail service throughout Orange County by 2009. The site is across the street from Angels Stadium, the Honda Center and near Disneyland. Its adjacent to A-Town, a new major residential and commercial development. Ultimately, ARTIC will be a hub of high-speed rail service to the Ontario, Orange County, LAX airports downtown LA and San Diego.
The city of Anaheim will be implementing zoning and density and forming a community facilities district to finance necessary infrastructure and complementary improvements associated with new development.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
