CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Gone Skiing 12-31-07
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
For the most part, snow shovels are not required to live in California, but the state has 32 ski areas and California has finally received snow at these locations.
From Mt. Shasta to the north, to Big Bear to the south, with Mammoth Lakes and Lake Tahoe ski resorts in the middle of the state has different terrain for every type of skiing from beginner to expert.
The National Ski Areas Association in a recent released report illustrated that while there are less number of skiers since the mid 1990s, there are more skier days. More men ski than women; however, in 2006 it was almost even. The average skiers income is over $50,000.
The California Ski Industry Association reports that winter sports in the state generates $500 million annually to the states economy, employs 15,000 and hosts and average of 8 million ski days annually.
See you on the slopes, better yet, afterwards on the mahogany runs.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
