| Dr. Robert Harmon |
|
Dr. Robert Harmon has over 20 years experience as a marketing consultant working with clients in industries such as software, biotechnology, water systems, computers, semiconductors, printers, displays, memory, instrumentation, medical software, batteries, optics, cellular telecommunications, and food processing among others. He serves on the advisory board for several startup companies in addition to being a member of the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science Advisory Board at Portland State University. Professor Harmons research has appeared in publications such as the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Interactive Advertising, Business and Society, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Decision Sciences.
He is currently completing research that is focused on incorporating ecological design strategies into the R&D process for semiconductor capital equipment firms. Other current work focuses on green supply chains, alternative energy development, and determining the strategy links between an ecological business orientation and market performance. His interests include interactive marketing and developing innovation strategies for growth-oriented industries and governments.
Dr. Harmon is Professor of Marketing and Technology Management at Portland State University, where he teaches technology marketing, product development, and marketing strategy courses in the MBA and Engineering and Technology Management programs. He has a joint appointment in the School of Business and the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science. He served two terms as Chairman of the Marketing Department. He earned a Ph.D. in Marketing from Arizona State University.

Tim Johnson has worked in economic development for nearly 25 years. He has held senior and executive management positions in public and private sector organizations. He recently finished a volunteer stint in the Gulf Coast helping to deploy grants and loans to business and industry impacted by the hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He completed a major report for the US Department of Commerce and the International Economic Development Council on how to improve response efforts for business and industry with the rebuilding caused by these natural disasters. He is the former executive director of the national award winning bi county Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation in northern California. Tim managed the community's economic recovery caused by a devastating flood. He reduced unemployment from a high of nearly 20 percent to less than 9 percent along with aiding in the reduction of poverty levels from a high of 22 percent to 13 percent in less than six years. Tim supported the attraction of multiple Fortune 500 companies Northrop Grumman and SYSCO Distribution.
In addition his work has involved the planning of Sutter Crossing, the largest industrial science and research park and city yet to be named (10,000 acres) north of San Francisco to Portland, Oregon and the corresponding investment of $3 billion of new development for business, industry and housing. During his tenure, Tim lead a 10 county effort comprised of 32 jurisdictions to retain the largest employer (7,000) north of Sacramento to the Oregon state line, Beale Air Force Base from the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure process.
Tim was previously in the city manager's office in San Diego, CA overseeing the retention of military facilities but also the redevelopment of base and defense contractor facilities. In addition his responsibilities involved actions on hosting such major events as the Super Bowl, America?s Cup, World Cup, Republican National Convention and World Series.
Prior to these positions, Tim help create the first office of Economic Development, Agenda and Commission for the city of Sacramento, CA in 1987. In addition to these actions he is credited with the recruitment of over 300 companies and the creation of over 28,000 jobs during his tenure.
Tim is the founder of the California Autonomous Technology Initiative and serves on a variety of boards of public and private organizations including the Community Advisory Board of Wells Fargo Bank, California, the Editorial Board of Comstock's Business Magazine and the Clearinghouse CDFI.
